PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly clamp a lens by a bell holder without sliding and rotating it even in carrying out multiple grinding work, etc. of the lens. SOLUTION: This centering clamping method of the lens to which a balloon 9 is expanded and comes into close contact with the lens R so as to make surface-contact with the same in an expansion process is furnished with a suction process to adsorbing the lens R by sucking the lens R in a state of making the lens R contact with an end part of one of the bell holders 2, a holding process to hold the lens R by clamping it by a pair of the bell holders 2, 3 so that a central axis of a pair of the bell holders 2 and an optical axis of the lens R match with each other by making the other bell holder 3 approach the one bell holder 2 by rotating it around the central axis in a state of rotating the one bell holder 2 around the central axis while sucking the lens R and an expansion process to clamp the lens R from both sides by the balloon 9 by expanding the balloon 9 so as to come into close contact with the lens R provided on a pair of the bell holders 2, 3 as well as releasing suction of the lens R after the holding process.
