<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem of an image forming system having a user authentication mode wherein a change of a setting value of an image forming device is permitted to only a limited user: because transmitting user information whenever changing the setting value, and transmitting the setting value after setting only when it is recognized that authority is present, unnecessary authentication processing duplicates, so that it takes time to change the setting. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming device 200 has a user authentication part 203, performs authentication when receiving the user information from a host computer 100, issues an authentication key when the authority is present, and returns it to the host computer 100.
