<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver for a shop front POP wherein the same video image is repetitively displayed all the day that reduces the cost of a drive part and prolongs the lifetime of the drive part. <P>SOLUTION: In the television receiver as shown in Fig. 1, a POP mode or an ordinary mode is selectable, in the POP mode, data are acquired from a DVD drive 30, an MPEG4 encoder 31 converts MPEG2 data into data of the MPEG4 form, and stores the MPEG4 data to an SDRAM33 as they are. Further, the MPEG4 encoder can output data whose sound data are excluded, and select whether or not the sound data are excluded.
