Systems and methods for implementing exposure restart in cameras (100) are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment the method may comprise starting (410) image exposure in response to user input to photograph a scene (145). The method may also comprise characterizing (430) camera shake based at least in part on motion of the camera. The method may also comprise restarting (450) the image exposure based at least in part on the characterized camera shake.
