PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for efficiently progressing the aromatization of a multi-cyclic compound, and to provide a technique for releasing an aromatization reagent from a reaction product with an excessive amount of the aromatization reagent to produce the objective aromatic compound. SOLUTION: This aromatization reagent obtained by reacting a prescribed aromatic compound with a dehydrogenation reagent such as DDQ.
