<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a polarizer by which the polarizer that is suppressed in occurrence of stretching unevenness can be manufactured, even if a hydrophilic polymer film is stretched in the width direction by a tenter system, or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the polarizer comprises a width direction stretching process of stretching the film 1 in the width direction, by grasping both ends of the hydrophilic polymer film 1 in the width direction with grasping means 2 and the grasping means 2 are made to advance in a longitudinal direction of the film 1, and further the film 1 is brought into contact with liquid and both grasping means 2 grasping both ends of the film 1 are also moved outside in the width direction of the film 1 to stretch the film 1 in the width direction; and a dyeing process of carrying out dyeing treatment of the film 1 by a dichroic substance. The contact of the film 1 with the liquid in the width direction stretching process is carried out, by spraying the liquid onto the film 1 in a gas phase and the grasping means 2 is provided with a liquid contact preventing means 3 for preventing liquid contact and the liquid contact preventing means forms a liquid noncontact region, where the liquid comes into no contact therewith, at both ends parts of the film 1 in the width direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
