PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent device which has highly luminous optical output and high durability. SOLUTION: The electroluminescent device uses at least a compound expressed by the formula [1] as a constituent material for a layer consisting of an organic compound which is held between an anode and a cathode. In the formula, R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>10</SB>are independently selected from among hydrogen atom, halogen atom, substituted amino group, alkyl group, aryl group, and heterocyclic group, respectively. Further, X denotes alkylene group with the number of carbon atoms of 2 to 6 [one or two non-adjacent methylene groups in the alkylene group may be substituted by -O-, -CO-, -CO-O-, -S-, or -NRa<SB>1</SB>, and the hydrogen atom in the alkylene group may be substituted by straight-chain, branched or circular alkyl group having the number of carbon atoms of 1 to 10, aryl group which may have substitutional group, and heterocyclic group which may have substitutional group, or fluorine atom].
