Provided is a friction material composition that is for use in a friction material such as a disk brake pad used in the braking of an automobile or the like, that does not contain environmentally harmful copper, that yields a highly conductive friction material, that has sufficient paint adhesion at the time of powder coating, that has good paint film formation properties, and that has excellent wear resistance. The friction material composition comprises a binder, an organic filler, an inorganic filler, and a fiber substrate. The friction material composition contains 8-35 mass% of triiron tetraoxide (Fe3O4). |
