PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving environment evaluation system capable of predicting oncoming low visibility by calculation and evaluating a driving environment indicating the easiness of driving a vehicle on the basis of the prediction result.SOLUTION: A driving environment evaluation system comprises: a low visibility recognition unit 111 for numerically evaluating a current low visibility level D3 at a prescribed point on the basis of an image taken by a preceding vehicle 100 when it was traveling at the same point; and a low visibility prediction unit 212 for estimating and calculating the amount of low visibility level change from now to the future after the elapse of a prescribed time by calculation using the amount of past rainfall D1 for the prescribed time from the past to now at the same point and the amount of predicted rainfall D2 for the prescribed time from now to the future. The low visibility prediction unit 212 evaluates, as the evaluation value of the driving environment at the point, a low visibility prediction level D4 which serves as an evaluation value obtained by adding the estimated and calculated amount of low visibility level change to the current low visibility level D3 obtained by the low visibility recognition unit 111, and provides the evaluation value for a succeeding vehicle 400 through a communication unit 210.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
