PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system which is easily installed in a plurality of monitoring places adjacent to each other and quickly provide information obtained during monitoring. SOLUTION: The monitoring system 1 includes: a plurality of voice receiving parts for receiving voice; and a plurality of imaging cameras arranged in proximity to the voice receiving parts and for monitoring an object. The monitoring system 1 is provided with: a first correlation table 4 in which voice information is beforehand related to impact sound emitted by the object; a second correlation table 6 in which the impact sound emitted by the object is related to an occurrence place where the occurrence of the impact sound is predicted; a voice pattern recognizing means 5 using the first correlation table 4 to perform a pattern recognition of the impact sound from the voice information; an operating means 7 using the second correlation table 6 to perform operation of activating an imaging camera arranged in proximity to the voice receiving part, where the occurrence of the impact sound is predicted from the impact sound subjected to pattern recognition in the voice pattern recognizing means 5; and a display means 19 for displaying an imaged video.
