PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dishwasher capable of advancing to an original washing operation without taking standby time after a prewashing operation. SOLUTION: The dishwasher comprises: a washing tub for housing dishes to be washed; a washing water jetting or circulating means for jetting or circulating washing water to the dishes; a water supply means for sprinkling hot water or water including city water to the dishes; a heating means for heating the supplied washing water; a water discharge means for discharging the washing water to the outside of the machine body of the dishwasher; and a drying means for drying the washed dishes. In the dishwasher, a prewashing process of performing water supply sprinkling by the water supply means and water discharge by the water discharge means together is executed before a main washing process of performing washing to drying.
