PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition comprising a novel protease capable of cleavingβ-amyloid. SOLUTION: The composition contains at least 10 wt.% active fragment of the protease capable of converting theβ-amyloid precursor protein to theβ-amyloid peptide by cleaving the precursor protein of theβ-amyloid peptide on the N-terminal side directly, and proceeding the proteolytic cleavage by theβ-secretase from one of the carboxy terminus and the amino terminus.
