An optical modulator and an optical modulator module are provided to improve an image quality by reducing laser speckles without using an intermediate image plane. An optical modulator module has an optical modulator(405) and an optical transmissive substrate. The optical modulator receives an incident ray, modulates the incident ray, and outputs an output ray. The optical transmissive substrate is arranged on the optical modulator, and includes a phase adjusting pattern, which is formed on a portion of an optical path. The incident and output rays pass through the optical transmissive substrate. The phase adjusting pattern is formed on a portion of a surface of the optical path for the incident ray or on a portion of a surface of the optical path for the output ray.
