PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yarn unwind assist device capable of preventing deposition of cotton fly to a balloon controller elevating/lowering means because it is difficult to elevate a balloon controller for regulating a balloon of a yarn when unwinding the yarn if the cotton fly generated when rewinding the yarn by an automatic winder is deposited on an upper end or the like of a guide part of the balloon controller elevating/lowering means. SOLUTION: The yarn unwind assist device 1 comprises a balloon controller 2 which is moved so as to change the position with respect to a yarn feed bobbin according to the unwinding degree of the yarn feed bobbin, and a balloon controller elevating/lowering means 3 for elevating/lowering the balloon controller, and further comprises a cotton fly removing means 4 for the balloon controller elevating/lowering means.
