PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road circumstance detection system for acquiring necessary road circumstances by efficient communication. SOLUTION: This road circumstance detection system comprises: a transmitter 20A installed in a transmission-side object on a road for transmitting the information of road circumstances; and a receiver 10A installed in a reception-side object on the road for receiving the information of road circumstances. The transmitter 20A is provided with a transmission-side periphery information acquisition means 22 for acquiring the periphery information of the transmission-side object; a transmission information determination means 24 for determining information transmitted from the acquired periphery information; and a transmission means 21 for transmitting the determined periphery information.
