<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively eliminate a thermal current in a photosensor as well as to increase durability against electromagnetic noise. <P>SOLUTION: The electro-optical device includes: a light-receiving sensor 350P irradiated with external light; a light-shielded sensor 350D shielded from external light; a backlight light-shielding electrode 611P configured to overlap the light-receiving sensor 350P in a plane view; a backlight light-shielding electrode 611D configured to overlap the light-shielded sensor 350D in a plane view; and a self-correcting voltage circuit 361 applying a potential to each backlight light-shielding electrode, at the potential where the photocurrent of the light-receiving sensor and the light-shielded sensor reaches almost the maximum. The two photosensors are laid in series as above described, with one of them being shielded from external light.
