PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high efficiency motor whose stray load loss is reduced.SOLUTION: There is provided a rotary electric machine in which a rotor core is formed of a laminate of a soft magnetic material, and a rotor whose outer circumferential surface is applied with machining work and surface heat treatment is used. Surface stress in the circumferential direction of the rotor outer circumferential surface is in a range of 0 to 700 MPa and surface stress in the axial direction is in a range of 0 to 200 MPa.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
