The invention relates to a retaining block (100) for a cutlery-holder system (500) for one or more items of cutlery (10, 20), and to a cutlery-holder system having such retaining blocks (100). The retaining block comprises an elongate main body (103), wherein the main body (103) has a handle-region holder (110) for accommodating a handle region (12, 22) of at least a first item of cutlery (10, 20) and a tool-region holder (120) for accommodating a tool region (14, 24) of at least one other item of cutlery (10, 20), and the handle-region holder (110) and the tool-region holder (120) are arranged so as to overlap at least in certain regions. The handle-region holder (110) has a comb-like structure (112) for accommodating a plurality of items of cutlery (10, 20) following one after the other along the longitudinal extent (101), in particular with the items of cutlery (10, 20) arranged in a single layer, wherein items of cutlery (10, 20) held in the handle-region holder (110) can be accommodated, as seen in respect of their tool region (14, 24), in a lateral position such that broad sides of the tool regions (14, 24) follow one after the other along the longitudinal extent (101). |
