<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizing method and a sterilizer effective for minimizing an area contaminated with viruses when a case affected by the epidemic occurs. <P>SOLUTION: This sterilizer 12 is equipped at entrances/exits of buildings such as an office building, a hospital, and an amusement center, and facilities such as a railroad, a subway, a baseball ground, a stadium, and an exhibition hall where the unspecified majority come and go; and is provided with a room 16 and a spray means 20. The room 16 is provided with an entrance 1602 and an exit 1604 at parts opposed to each other, and parts other than the entrance 1602 and the exit 1604 are cut off from the outside. The spray means 20 is to spray artificial fogs of liquid medication having a sterilizing effect to the interior of the room 16, and is provided with a spray driving unit 22 and a plurality of spray nozzles 24, or provided with a pipe 26.
