PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image matching method for matching corresponding points in two images. SOLUTION: First image matching that determines a first mapping relation from a target image to a reference image using first image correlation potential energy, and second image matching that determines a third mapping relation from the target image to the reference image and a fourth mapping relation from the reference image to the target image using second image correlation potential energy are performed. Points are calculated by mapping using the second mapping relation the points on the target image that are mapped using the first mapping relation. Based on the positional relationship of the points, a first reliability probability is calculated. Points are calculated by mapping using the fourth mapping relation the points on the target image that are mapped using the third mapping relation. Based on the positional relationship of the points, a second reliability probability is calculated.
