A vacuum-forming system (10) is provided for manufacturing a component by wrapping a cover stock 22 on a substrate 40. The system 10 includes a vacuum-forming mold (18, 20), which may be heated, a one or more wrapping arms (60, 62, 64), in operative coupling with the vacuum-forming mold (18, 20), one or more cutting elements (196, 207, 262), coupled to the wrapping arms (60, 62, 64), and a controller (42) for adjusting the temperature of the cutting elements (196, 207, 262). A controller (42) may also or as an alternative be coupled to and control the operation of the wrapping arms (60, 62, 64) to wrap a compliant cover stock object (22) on the substrate (40) and to simultaneously trim the object (22) via the cutting elements (196, 207, 262). |
