PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lowering of a suction force while suppressing unnecessary power consumption and damage of a dust collection part. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner is provided with a body 7 incorporating an electric blower 20 generating suction air, the detachable dust collection part 10 accumulating sucked dust, a dust removing means 25 removing the dust of the dust collection part 10 by vibration, a dust quantity detecting means 26 detecting the quantity of the dust accumulated in the dust collection part 10, and a control part 34 controlling the electric blower 20, the dust removing means 25 and the dust quantity detecting means 26. This vacuum cleaner controls the dust removing means 25 when the dust quantity detecting means 26 detects a prescribed quantity of dust as the detection result, and controls the dust removing means 25 whenever it 26 detects the prescribed quantity of dust so as to effectively and efficiently remove the dust and prevent the lowering of the suction force while suppressing the unnecessary power consumption and damage of the dust collection part.
