PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for estimating body temperature, which estimates a body temperature, taking the influence of an open-air temperature, and also to provide it's method. SOLUTION: The instrument for estimating body temperature has a first temperature sensor 20 which measures the temperature of the body surface of an animal, a second temperature sensor 30 which measures an air temperature around the animal, and an estimation means to estimate the body temperature of the animal from the body surface temperature and the air temperature measured by the first and second temperature sensors, respectively.
