PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a gas appliance including not only the kind of the gas appliance but also its manufacturer, article number, etc. SOLUTION: This gas appliance discrimination system is equipped with: an ultrasonic flow meter 11 connected to a gas supply pipe 20 for measuring an instantaneous flow of gas; a flow calculation part 12 for calculating a flow value and flow characteristics such as a flow difference value for appliance discrimination from an instantaneous flow; an appliance specifying part 13 for discriminating a specific gas appliance using gas flowing through the supply pipe 20 based on the calculated flow characteristics; a storage part 16 for holding appliance discrimination information used for discriminating the specific appliance; and a control part 15 having the function of an appliance addressing transaction part for performing addressing transaction, etc. such as security transaction corresponding to the specified gas appliance based on the specified result of gas appliance.
