<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retrieve a two-dimensional document at a speed of text search, by encoding two-dimensional structure to a one-dimensional synthetic language, based on two-dimensional information of a document. <P>SOLUTION: This system has an indexing module, a retrieval module, an encoder, a quantization module, a retrieval engine and a control module, and those are coupled by a bus. A large number of electronic documents are indexed at first by the indexing module to be stored as a synthetic text library. The retrieval module converts an input image into a synthetic text, and searches matched one matched to the synthetic text in the synthetic text library. The matched one is used for retrieving the corresponding electronic documents. It should be kept in mind that the plurality of matched ones and the plurality of corresponding electronic documents may be retrieved while ranked in an order corresponding to the similarity to the synthetic text. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
