PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long life intake filter unit for a gas turbine which is an efficient intake filter unit not to deteriorate the power generation output of the gas turbine and enables filter replacement at regular inspection of the gas turbine which is mandated to be performed once a year. SOLUTION: A first-stage prefilter 1, a second-stage high performance filter 2, and a third-stage ultrahigh performance or quasi-ultrahigh performance filter 3 are installed in that order from the upstream side in intake direction of the gas turbine within a gas turbine intake apparatus. The first-stage prefilter 1 in the intake filter unit has an average removal efficiency of 20 to 80% as measured by a colorimetric method. The filter medium area is 14 to 40 m<SP>2</SP>/filter.
