PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer including a simple structure of components capable of preventing star wheels for pressing a medium so as not to lift, from being exposed when a medium conveying passage is opened.SOLUTION: An upper platen unit 20 holding first and second star wheels 25A, 25B is separated from an openable platen unit 8, and supported so as to be movable vertically. When the platen unit 8 is moved to an open position 8B and a third passage portion 10c of a medium conveying passage 10 is opened, upon a paper jam or the like, a head lifting mechanism 17 is controlled to raise the upper platen unit 20, so that the first and second star wheels 25A, 25B held by the upper platen unit 20 are retracted from positions that a user easily touches with a hand.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
