<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system suppressing lowering in the rate of operation of the image forming system, without suspending a print job when detecting an abnormal condition during post-processing execution. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming system comprises an image forming device; and a plurality of post-processing devices connected to the image forming device, and including at least two post-processing devices that can execute the same post-processing or alternative post-processing. The plurality of post-processing devices are provided with abnormal condition detecting means for detecting abnormal conditions of the post-processing devices. When the abnormal condition is detected by the abnormal condition detecting means in the plurality of post-processing devices, another post-processing device that can execute the same post-processing device as the post-processing device with which the abnormal condition is detected or the alternative post-processing is selected to switch execution of the post-processing.
