Provided is a turning drive control device for controlling the drive of a turning mechanism of a construction machine which is turned and driven by an electric motor. The turning drive control device comprises a drive command generating unit for generating a drive command to drive the electric motor on the basis of the control input inputted through the control unit of the construction machine, a turning action detecting unit for detecting the turning action of the turning mechanism, and a drive command correcting unit for correcting the drive command, when the turning action to be inputted to the control unit in the opposite direction of aturning operation direction is detected by the turning action detecting unit, so as to reduce the turning action in the opposite direction of the turning operation direction in response to the degree of the turning action in the opposite direction of the turning operation direction.
