<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coded pattern to be attached to an object, the coded pattern being precisely identified when the object is placed on the surface of an interactive display device. <P>SOLUTION: A two-dimensional identifier 130 attached to an object so as to encode a value determinable by a surface-sensing system includes a contiguous area 132 of a detectable material detected to which the surface-sensing system is responsive, and is provided with: a cue component 134 having an axis indicating the orientation of the two-dimensional identifier 130; a code portion 136 for encoding the value with a binary element which is detectable by the surface-sensing system; and a border region 138 which encompasses the contiguous area 132 and the code portion 136, comprises a non-detectable material which is not sensed by the surface-sensing system, and functions as an interference mask around the contiguous area 132 and the code portion 136, to minimize noise. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
