PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an RF transmission coil that reduces electric field exposure in an imaging space, and an open MRI device using the same.SOLUTION: A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes a static magnetic field generation system for generating a static magnetic field, an RF transmission coil for generating an RF magnetic field, a gradient magnetic field coil for generating a gradient magnetic field superimposed on the static magnetic field, and an RF reception coil for detecting a nuclear magnetic-resonance signal. A plane birdcage coil 70 which is the RF transmission coil includes an outside ring conductor 71 of a first diameter, an inside ring conductor 72 with a second diameter smaller than the first diameter, and a plurality of rung conductors 73 connecting the first ring conductor and the second ring conductor. The first ring conductor is separated farther from an imaging space in a direction parallel to the direction of the static magnetic field 76 than the plurality of rung conductors.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
