摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white light emitting diode, especially one whose impedance value can be adjusted outside, and to provide a method of controlling the chromaticity thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The white light emitting diode comprises a metallic support frame (10) which consists of a minus terminal (11) and at least two plus terminals (12 and 13) with a supporting portion (111) with a cup (12) being formed at the upper end of the minus terminal (11), InGaN chip (30) set in the cup (12) on the supporting portion (111), at least one AlGaInP chip (20) set in the cup (12) on the supporting portion (111), packaging resin (14) for packaging the upper ends of the minus terminal (11) and plus terminals (12 and 13) of the metallic support frame (10), and resistor (15) inserted between the plus terminal (12) and a positive power supply. In controlling the chromaticity of the white light emitting diode, blue light and yellowish green light emitted from the InGaN chip and the AlGaInP chip(s) respectively are combined, and the voltage of the InGaN chip and the AlGaInP chip(s) are adjusted by the resistor as an adjustment means to control the luminance of the lights emitted from these chips and thereby yellow light, white light, and blue light can be obtained separately. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
