PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of informing the performance of printing by paper from a first paper feeding mechanism, by detecting detention and extraction of the paper fed from a second paper feeding mechanism, by a detection result of a sensor on a paper carrying passage. SOLUTION: This image forming device has a first sensor 33 detecting the existence of the paper on the upstream side of a carrying passage of the paper fed from the second paper feeding mechanism 30, and a second sensor 34 on the downstream side, and has a separation mechanism for separating the paper fed from the first paper feeding mechanism and the paper fed from the second paper feeding mechanism by a common pickup mechanism 17 when picking up the paper, and is characterized by having a paper abnormality detecting means for determining that the paper is detained or the paper is extracted by a user by the second paper feeding mechanism from the detection result of the sensor.
