PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method for simply and efficiently producing a polyester having a branched structure capable of increasing molecular weight, while effectively inhibiting gelation even when a hydroxy alkanoic acid having a secondary hydroxyl group is contained as a polymerization component; and the polyester.SOLUTION: The method for producing polyester comprises the steps of: preparing a hydroxyl group-containing polyester precursor at least having a dicarboxylic acid or reactive derivative thereof, a diol, and a hydroxy alkanoic acid or alkyl ester thereof as a polymerization component; and performing chain elongation by reacting the polyester precursor and a polycarboxylic acid or reactive derivative thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
