PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink tank which can be reliably joined with an ink-tank-mountable recording apparatus by protecting an ink supply opening from an impact charged from outside such as that caused by a fall. SOLUTION: An approximately cylindrical first protruding unit has a first communication member which can make an ink reservoir communicate with outside by means of a first ink supply needle which is inserted to a predetermined position. An approximately cylindrical second protruding unit has a second communication member which can lead out the ink of the ink reservoir to outside by means of a second ink supply needle which is inserted to a predetermined position. The first and the second protruding units are provided on a surface facing the bottom surface of the ink tank. A perpendicular plane part orthogonal to the bottom surface is provided at a position where it faces the first protruding unit and the second protruding unit, and it sandwiches the second protruding unit with the first protruding unit. The top of the perpendicular plane part is higher than the top of the first and the second protruding units with respect to the bottom surface, and the top of the second protruding unit is located lower than the line between the top of the perpendicular plane part and the top of the first protruding unit.
