PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a front and a back cover of a document file for filing thick documents from freely opening by a simple structure so as to firmly hold the documents between the front cover and the back cover. SOLUTION: This document file 1 has the front cover 3, the back cover 4, a spine 2 and a binder 5. One end of a band-like member 9 is mounted to a nearly intermediate part on the open side edge side of either one cover 4 between the front cover 3 and the back cover 4. A through-hole 8 is formed in a nearly intermediate part on the open side edge side of the other cover 3 between the front cover 3 and the back cover 4. After the tip of the band-like member 9 is passed through the through-hole 8 after the filing of documents 6 to the document file 1, the tip side of the band-like member 9 is detachably mounted by means of retainers 11 and 12 provided on the band-like member side to the band-like member 9, resulting in blocking the open part between the front cover 3 and the back cover 4 with the band-like member 9.
