The method involves measuring a spectrum in at least one energy group or at least one interval group, measuring the pulse height distribution with a spectrometer and a pulse height analyzer, converting the pulse height distribution into a photon spectrum by matrix inversion using response functions with the same energy resolution as the pulse height distribution and computing the dose spectrum and the dosage power. The spectrometer is changed between a low and a high resolution mode for integral and nuclide specific analysis respectively.
