A method, system and network entity for obtaining the session description protocol (SDP) capability information, so as to resolve the problem in the prior art that one communication party can't obtain the SDP capability information of the other party. Through the message interaction between the two communication parties, one communication party obtaining the SDP capability information from the other party can be achieved. Especially when applied under the H.248 protocol, through extension of the corresponding property parameter, the media gateway controller obtaining the SDP capability information from the media gateway can be conveniently achieved.
