PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device capable of obtaining the gain of a fine-adjustable actuator while performing a reading/writing operation, and to provide its control method. SOLUTION: While the magnetic disk device is generating a control signal for suppressing positional errors of a magnetic head 4 and outputs the signal to a voice coil motor 7 and an exciting signal for displacing a piezoactuator 30 is output, the gain of the piezoactuator 30 is obtained, on the basis of the displacement of the voice coil motor 7 and the exciting signal.
