<p>The method involves linearly regulating a switch (S1) e.g. metal oxide semiconductor transistor, in a phase after switching-on an electrical consumer i.e. starter motor (2) for an internal combustion engine. Another switch is operated in a clocked manner to limit a starting current of the electrical consumer. The latter switch is controlled in another phase by a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) signal, where the former phase is shorter than the latter phase. A current in the latter phase is limited to approximately half of the maximum current in the former phase. An independent claim is also included for a switching device comprising switches.</p> |
