PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform focus assist display for achieving both stability and responsiveness to assist a user's focus adjustment operation during manual focus adjustment.SOLUTION: A display control device comprises: a focus signal processing part (204) that detects a focus state on the basis of an image signal of a focus detection area that is set in a light receiving area of an imaging element; display control means (203 and 207) that display, on a display part (205), indices based on the detected focus state (302, 303, and 305) overlapped on an image; and specification means (205) that receives an operation to specify the position of the focus detection area.
