PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insert for a milling cutter which has a polygonal flat-plate shape, is provided with a pair of auxiliary cutting blades at the corner part of the polygonal shape, and enables a user to surely use the other auxiliary cutting blade by preventing spread of wear to the other cutting blade even when one auxiliary cutting blade is worn out by cutting. SOLUTION: The insert 11 for a milling cutter has a polygonal flat-plate shape, is composed by providing the cutting blade 15 to each side ridge part of the polygonal shape, and mounted to an insert mounting seat provided to a tool body. A pair of the auxiliary cutting blades 17a, 17b, which are extended continuously from the side ridge part and inclined to the inside of the polygonal shape to the side ridge part, are provided to each corner part of the polygonal shape. A relief part 19, which is located inside the insert to an intersecting point of the extended lines of a pair of the auxiliary cutting blades 17a, 17b, is formed across a pair of the auxiliary cutting blades 17a, 17b.
