<p>The invention relates to novel water-resistant luminescent pigments and to printing inks based thereon. The inventive water-resistant luminescent pigment is embodied in the form of an oxide matrix, which is based on aluminium oxide and at least on one type of oxide of elements selected from a Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Mn, Si, B, P and Ga group, is activated with at least one rare-earth element and which is treated with a mixture of salts selected from a Na<SUB>3</SUB>PO<SUB>4</SUB>, Na<SUB>2</SUB>HPO<SUB>4</SUB>, (NH<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>HPO<SUB>4</SUB> and Ca<SUB>3</SUB> (PO<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB> group with acids selected from a HCl, H<SUB>2</SUB>SO<SUB>4</SUB> and HNO<SUB>3</SUB> group with a pH equal to or less 4 at the end of treatment. Said oxide matrix can have the following formulas: MO-SiO<SUB>2</SUB>Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>:R, MAl<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB>:R and MAlO<SUB>4</SUB>:R, wherein M is a metal selected from a Ca, Sr, Ba, Mg and Zn group and R is an element selected from a Dy, Nd, Eu, Tm, Tb, Y and Yb group. The inventive printing ink comprises novel water-resistant pigments and any known thickeners relating to said field.</p> |
