PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water closet washing a stool even in the case of the leakage or the like of wash water for a water storage tank. SOLUTION: The water closet has a bowl 12, a stool body 2 with a rim spout 18 and a jet spout 16, the water storage tank 20, water-level detecting means 64a and 64b each detecting the water level of the water storage tank and wash-water supply means 34 and 36 supplying each the rim spout and the water storage tank with wash water. The water closet further has a pressure pump 22 supplying the jet spout with wash water in the water storage tank, a washing switch 63, an on-normality washing means controlling the wash-water supply means and/or the pressure pump on the basis of an output from the water-level detecting means and washing the stool when the washing switch is turned on and an abnormality detecting means 62 detecting the abnormality of the water-level detecting means itself and/or the water storage tank by the output value of the water-level detecting means. The water closet further has a washing inhibition means 62 inhibiting a stool to wash by the on-normality washing means when the abnormality detecting means detects an abnormality and an on-abnormality washing means 62 washing the stool by a timer control when inhibiting the stool washing.
