PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a playback apparatus by which frequency characteristics about a playback signal, more appropriately matching the audible frequency characteristics of individual users and the frequency characteristics of an electroacoustic transducer being in use are obtained. SOLUTION: The playback apparatus is provided with an output means (steps 31, 35) for supplying test tone signals of the respective predetermined frequencies, to the electroacoustic transducer which outputs the played back sound, based on a played back sound signal to output test tones; an input means (steps 32-34) for accepting input regarding whether the test tones with the respective frequencies output from the electroacoustic transducer are audible; and an adjustment means (a step 36) for adjusting the frequency characteristics of the sound signal supplied to the electroacoustic transducer, based on the input results by the input means.
