Provided is a cutting insert capable of limiting a shifting motion of a cutting insert during a cutting process. A tool body (20) including an insert attachment portion for mounting a cutting insert has a distal end surface (30) and an outer surface (32). The insert attachment portion includes a base surface (21A) and a side wall surface on which the cutting insert abuts, and a second and a third engaging portion formed in the base surface and on which the cutting insert abuts. When the base surface, as viewed from a direction facing the base surface, is divided into four regions by a first boundary line (L1) defined to pass substantially the center of the base surface and extend from the distal end surface side to the proximal end side, and a second boundary line (L2) defined to be orthogonal to the first boundary line, a second engaging portion (24) is formed in a first region (26) that is on the outer surface side of the first boundary line and on the proximal end side of the second boundary line, and a third engaging portion (25) is formed in a second region (27) that is on the outer surface side of the first boundary line and on the distal end surface side of the second boundary line. |
