PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel capable of aiming at the prevention of line biting, also easily performing the releasing work of the line and preventing damage even on getting the line biting. SOLUTION: This fishing reel is provided by forming each of spool-inserting ports 1f, 1g at the inside of spool covers 1d, 1e of the side frames 1a, 1b of a reel main body 1, also projecting cylindrical parts 2f, 2g at the spool 2, each extending in axial direction to outside as having a same diameter from the left and right flange parts 2d, 2e, and ring state recessed grooves 2h, 2i at the outer circumference of the left and right flange parts 2d, 2e. In the ring state recessed grooves 2h, 2i, elastic members 23, 24 having an almost circular cross sections and consisting of ring state O-rings are mounted as freely attachable and detachable, and each of the outer diameter of the elastic members 23, 24 mounted in the recessed grooves 2h, 2i is constituted so as to be larger than each the inner diameters of the spool-inserting ports 1f, 1g, respectively.
