The supply unit (1) has a monitoring device (18) for verifying whether the supplied mains voltage is in a specified voltage range before or during lighting. A lighting circuit (12) is attached to the monitoring device. The lighting circuit is released for the generation of lighting impulse when the voltage monitoring circuit detects that the mains voltage lies in the specified voltage range.
