PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenolic resin composition which can obtain molded articles with reduced flashes formed on molding and a thermosetting resin molding material. SOLUTION: The phenolic resin composition comprises a novolak type phenolic resin and a hydroxyalkyl cellulose.
