The present invention provides a method for managing a terminal device in a PON. When a layer-3 network between an OLT and an ONU is unavailable, a layer-2 channel is established between the OLT and the ONU by means of an extended OAM protocol, and the ONU is managed by means of the layer-2 channel, so that a maintenance person can perform commissioning without the need of going to the site, and accordingly, maintenance cost can be reduced. |
